French Holidays
Dominique loves to introduce his customers to all the national events he celebrated as a young boy in Normandy. A few of his favorites include:
Saint Honoré Day – May 16th
This national day is celebrated in France on May 16th to honor the heritage and tradition of French baking. Here at St. Honoré Boulangerie, we honor organizations in the community with a special family day. The first annual event in 2004 supported the local domestic violence organization, Raphael House. Children took part in a hands-on bread-baking lesson where they made their very own Galette Sucre and enjoyed it hot from the oven. This year we will donate 20% of our profits for the weekend of May 2-4 to The Hearing and Speech Institute and The Lake Oswego School Foundation.
Bastille Day - July 14
St. Honore’s version of France’s national holiday turns the corner of NW Thurman and NW 23rd Place into an outdoor sidewalk festival reminiscent of the artist scene at Montmartre. Street artists, jugglers, mimes and a tap dancing saxophone player create a fun-filled celebration for all ages.
Tour de France - July
For three weeks each July, St. Honore becomes a cyclist-lover’s gathering spot with ongoing televised coverage of France’s favorite road race, Tour de France. Sip a café au lait as you follow the cyclists through the mountains and country roads of France.
